Poetry Codices

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 8, 2026

Who we are and what this covers

Poetry Codices (“we”, “us”) is operated by Jose Daniel Letona Gonzales. This policy covers the Poetry Codices apps for iOS and Android and the website at poetrycodices.com. It explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

What we do not do

We do not show ads. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not read the advertising identifier (IDFA or AAID). We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Why we collect it

To run the service: to sign you in, to show your work to the readers you choose, to send the notifications you opt into, to fix bugs you report, and to understand which parts of the app are used so we can improve them.

Where it is processed, and who else sees it

Your data is stored and processed by Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging and Hosting — operated by Google LLC under Google’s own privacy policy. Our transactional email — sign-in links, confirmations, password resets — is delivered by Resend, operated by Resend, Inc. under its own privacy policy. No one else receives your personal data.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

Your data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your login and profile are permanently removed. Your notifications, blocked list and notification settings are deleted straight away. Your poems and chapbooks, including any you had deleted earlier, stop being visible to anyone at once and are kept, hidden, for 60 days, so that a deletion made by mistake or reported to us can still be looked into. After those 60 days they are erased for good, together with your profile record, your pictures, recordings and chapbook covers, and the reading statistics for your poems. If you want them erased sooner, say so when you delete your account or write to us afterwards, and we will remove them. Notes, reactions and verses you left on other poets’ poems stay, without your name, because they are part of those poems’ conversations; you can remove them yourself before deleting your account. You can delete your account inside the app or by email — see how to delete your account.

Your rights

You can export your data (open your profile on the web, press “Edit profile”, and use Export), correct it (edit your profile), and delete it (in the app, or by writing to us). Depending on where you live you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; write to us and we will honour them.

Children

Poetry Codices is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Access to stored data is controlled by Firebase security rules, so the app can only read and write what the signed-in person is allowed to.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the effective date above, and for material changes we tell you in the app.
